The Institute for Human Services, Inc. (IHS) is a nonprofit advocate serving the Southern Tier. Our goal is to support member organizations through:

  • Capacity building, governance and operations support through consultation services.
  • Strategic collaboration & communication between member and nonmember organizations.
  • Professional development and conferences aimed at sustainability.
  • Coordination of programs, services, and management support that enhance the capacity for our members (Contracted Program Management Services).

The Provider Network is a multi-platform approach to connecting and educating nonprofit professionals. The Provider delivers the most up to date information on nonprofit news, jobs, events, and professional development opportunities.

Our goal is to provide members with the tools and resources they need to be successful. In addition to developing in-house materials for our members, IHS created a Resource Database to support the work of nonprofits.

IHS reacts to the needs of our members by providing local, low-cost, and relevant professional development opportunities. IHS Educational services, in combination with NYCON educational opportunities, provides a comprehensive approach to education.

We believe that collaboration is essential to success for nonprofits. Our focus is on creating an environment that continues to develop the Southern Tier nonprofit sector. Your membership helps perpetuate the ideals of collaborative strength!

For over 30 years, IHS has dedicated its resources to supporting local nonprofits in the Southern Tier. Through a partnership with The New York Council of Nonprofits {NYCON) we are able to offer our members a wide variety of services at low to no cost.

Through our partnership with OpenVine Web Solutions, our members receive a 20% discount on standard pricing, plus OpenVine is putting together some special service packages exclusive to IHS members!

OpenVine built our website and the 211 Helpline Site. They were excellent to work with and really understand the needs of non-profits!

Value of $100-1,000 Annually. Benefits include:

The Provider Network is a multi-platform approach to connecting and educating nonprofit professionals. Utilizing email marketing and web based resources. The Provider delivers the most up to date information on nonprofit news, jobs, events, and professional development opportunities. This is an exclusive benefit for IHS member organizations.

With over 2,000 email contacts, the Provider Email Newsletter is our #1 tool for distributing nonprofit information and resources. The Newsletter incorporates all aspects of the Provider Network.

IHS Staff scan the region for low cost and free professional development opportunities that will benefit your organization. IHS member events are given higher priority over nonmember events in all publications.

New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON)

Value of $60-$650 Annually. Benefits include:

IHS Nonprofit Members receive a complimentary membership to NYCON. Become an IHS member and we will take care of the rest!
Over 3,000 New York State nonprofits would agree; joining IHS / NYCON just makes good fiscal sense. All IHS members are automatically enrolled and are eligible for NYCON benefits. Don’t be left out, join the largest nonprofit coalition in the State!

Strong Communication and Collaboration

IHS leads a multitude of networks and community coalitions to create stronger communication and collaboration between organizations, businesses, and government entities.
